CoLab: HK's platform for young designers to work on socially-oriented projects

Design for social good (or humanitarian design, if you prefer) is creeping up all around us, and Hong Kong is no different. I had the opportunity to spend some time with designers Hung Lam (left in the photograph) and Eddy Yu (right in the photograph). A few years ago they started their second venture called CoLab. Their first is the design firm CoDesign, Yu and Lam's graphics and branding studio. At first, CoLab also provided branding services, but for socially minded businesses. CoLab has quickly expanded. As Yu and Lam say, CoLab has two meanings: collaboration and laboratory. CoLab aims to provide a platform for "collaboration" with young designers and a "laboratory" for project experimentation. …

Sixteenth Annual Boston International Fine Art Show (BIFAS) Taking Place Next Week, November 15-18, 2012 at The Cyclorama

Co-Producers Tony Fusco and Robert Four are pleased to announce the Sixteenth Annual Boston International Fine Art Show (BIFAS), to take place Thursday - Sunday, November 15- 18, 2012 at The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for The Arts, 539 Tremont Street in Boston's hip and historic South End. Both traditional and contemporary galleries from the United States and Europe will offer more than 3,000 original works of art. The show opens with the Gala Preview on Thursday, November 15 from 5:30 to 8:30pm. Weekend hours are Friday 1pm- 8pm, Saturday 11am-8pm and Sunday 11am-5pm. Tickets are $15, under 12 free. Exhibitor Roster Announced For The Ellis Boston Antiques Show Slated For October 18-21, 2012 at The Cyclorama

Having re-launched The Ellis Boston Antiques Show in 2011, the show's producers, Tony Fusco and Robert Four, are pleased to announce the second annual show October 18-21, 2012 at The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for The Arts.   The show will feature 40 exhibitors of the highest quality, drawn from both past Ellis exhibitors as well as many new additions.  The show opens with a Gala Preview on Thursday, October 18 to benefit Ellis Memorial, Boston's first settlement house.  Located in Boston's South End, just a two-minute walk from the Cyclorama, Ellis Memorial has been caring for children, disabled adults, and families who live and work in the South End and adjacent neighborhoods since 1885.   For additional information, visit the show's website at www.EllisBoston.com or call 617-363-0405

Design Museum Boston @WIT Week 10

It’s been a while since our last update and a LOT has happened! First and most importantly, we’ve made our Kickstarter goal! And in just 15 days at that! So far we’ve raised $5,401 dollars and the number keeps rising with two days to go. We couldn’t have done it without our supporters (that means YOU!) so thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts.

Fabrication has begun and is moving full steam ahead. Stands for the product boards, wall brackets and of course, pedestals. The pedestal has gone through many iterations and we finally narrowed it down to a design with both form and function. Fabrication will continue all this week as we wait for the printed boards to be sent back to us.

As we move forward to our deadline (Aug 14) we’re very eager to show the world what we’ve…
